Eyeup Aerial Solutions – COVID-19 Secure in 2020
When the lockdown started in March, many businesses and operators mis-understood the new regulations. They shut up shop and stopped providing services to their clients. In many cases this may not have mattered as the clients themselves were hunkering down and coming to terms with the new world we were entering. This didn’t help anybody looking for drone hire in Surrey or the South of England.
Eyeup was different. We understood that work could be continued legally and safely provided it could be carried out from home or that full social distancing and associated precautions were taken.
The Same…but Different!
With this understanding we were able to carry on. Work with drones tends to be naturally socially isolated already. After all, even with our valuable exemptions in place, we have to remain a minimum of 5m from people outside our control during take off and landing…well over the recommended 2m for COVID related safety. We tend to work on remote sites too but even town centre locations were empty of people during lockdown, enabling safe operations to take place and helping to keep the economy turning.
We did more hand washing, hand sanitising and equipment wiping than we care to remember and will continue doing so until the virus is beaten or an effective vaccine is in place.
Formalising the Rules of Engagement
The battle with Coronavirus is real and the rules of engagement are based around social distancing and hygiene, with PPE being a necessity only as a last resort. We have now carried out a full risk assessment of our activities. Some aspects are easy to control. For instance our face to face consultancy and training now takes place by video conferencing. Other aspects require careful thought and cooperation with our clients so that we can continue to provide services safely. Clients who are not respectful of the rules will, unfortunately, have to become ex-clients as we are not prepared to compromise the safety of the wider community.
Our risk assessment covers all aspects of the services we offer, both on and off site and will continue to be monitored and amended in line with the changing guidance.
